Tips for Last few days

KVPY : Tips for Last few days and the D-Day

You are probably also preparing for other engineering entrance examinations like JEE Main, JEE Advanced etc. The syllabus is pretty same there is nothing to worry about separately other than the question pattern.

The level of questions asked in KVPY can be compared to that of JEE Advanced (IIT-JEE). Harsh, a 2012 applicant said ‘The questions are not really that difficult. Since I was into coaching from 11th it didn’t seem tough. They were somewhat easier  only than IIT-JEE actually if I compare’.

In the last week, don’t choose to study any new specifically for KVPY point of view. Try to revise your class notes, important formulas, facts and key theories etc. Understand their applications.

It is generally advised to avoid late night studies. But it varies from person to person. A large section of student says they study late night often. But you must ensure you go to bed early on the night before the exam. Lack of sleep on the exam day of KVPY  can affect your performance and attentiveness and may reduce performance.

Plan your mock tests in the last week. This will help you get a complete idea on the KVPY  Paper Pattern and schedule your exam time distribution as well.

                The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana

The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is an on-going National Program of Fellowships in Basic Sciences, initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to attract exceptionally and highly motivated students for pursuing basic science courses and career in research. The objectives of the program are to identify the students with talent and aptitude for research; help them realize their potential in their studies; encourage them to take up research careers in Science, and ensure the growth of the best scientific minds for research and development in the country. The advertisement for the KVPY Fellowship appears in all the national dailies normally on the Technology Day the May 11 and Second Sunday of July every year. The selection of students is from those studying in XI standard to 1st year of any undergraduate Program in Natural and Basic Sciences having aptitude for scientific research. There are special groups or committees set up at IISc, which screen the applications, conduct aptitude test at various centres. Based on the performance in the aptitude test, short-listed students are invited for an interview which is the final stage of the selection procedure. For receiving a fellowship, both aptitude test and interview are required. Generous scholarships are provided up to the pre-Ph. D. Level to the selected students.

NEET-UG replaced the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) and all individual MBBS exams conducted by states or colleges themselves. However, many colleges and institutes have taken a stay order and conducted private examinations for admission to their MBBS and BDS courses. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences will be also be conducting its own separate examination. Nevertheless, many other reputed institutes such as the Armed Forces Medical College and Banaras Hindu University have opted to admit students on the basis of the NEET-UG.The first exam was held on 5 May 2013, and the results were announced on 5 June 2013. Undergraduate courses at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, Postgraduate Institute for Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, Jawarharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research JIPMER be outside the NEET’s purview as these institutes were set up by separate laws, which need to be amended in Parliament to introduce the new system.
